The EB-5 Investor visa is a path to obtaining a green card for foreign nationals by investing money in the United States of America. There are two ways to get an EB5 visa:

  1. Direct Investment
  2. Investing in a regional centre
EB-5 and Its Growth in the Indian Market

The EB-5 Investor market report 2016 states that the EB5 investor visa program saw a boost in the Indian market as India was ranked as the fourth largest EB-5 investor market in terms of its I-526 approval volume in 2014. Moreover, it is expected that this trend will see an upward trajectory in the coming yearṣ. On an average India has seen approximately 34 I-526 approvals since 2008. A 73.77% increase has been seen in the I-526 approvals since 2008 along with which a 24.67% increase has been seen in the usage of EB-5 visa in between 2012-2014. India holds 7.41% of the world’s total market share of I-526 approvals since 2011 and generates about $84 million in U.S. Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). India’s economy is increasingly gaining stability which when combined with the central government’s investment promotion showcases a positive growth for the immigrant investor sphere. This has been made possible because the Reserve Bank of India has been significantly reducing capital controls over the past few years. From 86 I-526 approvals in the years between 1990-2007 to 169 approvals in the years 2011-2014, India has showcased the potential growth of the EB-5 Investor program to the best of its ability.
